Colic

Parents of WHO.. Any advice for calming down colic? The little one is suffering. Tried a few of the over the counter remedies but no joy. I know there isn't a definite cure, but what did you do?
Thanks.

I didn't say you don't have children.
Until you've had one with food intolerances and leaky gut, then you won't understand the relief of getting to the bottom of it.
If I could give you one piece of advice about your daughter though, perhaps it would be that you let her post on here instead of you?

iwto - the elimination diet discovered her intolerances, but we still had no idea what the actual diagnosis was, or how to remedy the situation, so the pediatrician (done under health insurance) was an absolute godsend.
Until you've had a baby that won't sleep because they're constantly uncomfortable or in pain, you won't understand the difference fixing the situation makes.

About the same here Sniper.
Doctors and emergency people weren't a lot of help, whenever we took our daughter in. We did a lot of research ourselves, well the wife did, and figured we'd start at diet. Full elimination diet for the missus, and suddenly, as soon as there was no dairy, gluten etc in the diet, the improvements were dramatic.
We did some gradual re-introductions and found that excess fructose was an issue, anything orange, dairy and soy were a problem, even just a bit through breast milk.
Ended up seeing a pediatrician who takes a very alternative, bio-med approach, who diagnosed leaky gut.
Plenty of supplements for the nipper and wife (slippery elm, iberogast, zinc, digestive enzymes) and suddenly, everyone was happy again.
BUT, it took a long long time, and we had to do most of the work ourselves because the general opinion of the "normal" medical fraternity was that she was just doing what a baby does....have wind, vomit, get the shits etc.

My little boy had terrible silent reflux - chronic pain, literally wouldn't sleep for more than about 20 mins, had awful colic so bad he looked like he had Homer Simpson's beard or sometimes just like a smurf
It's a horrible thing to go through, and people will fire advice at you about what worked for them and and how they solved all their problems and how easy it was. But every child is different, and there is no miracle solution. My son was over 18 months old before he slept through the night, we tried everything. All you can do is your best and be there.

Well, like you, Nursey, I've got kids but am a little older than some of the parents on here.
My advice to modern parents is to put the mobile away, don't google ANYTHING about your child, just spend as much time as you with her/him and find your own way how to deal with these little issues - speak to your parents/grandparents.
Lastly, see if you can get a midwife to give you training on sleeping and feeding patterns - what a fucking difference that made for me with our second kid.

Bell - We have a 7 week old , and my other half took him to a Cranial Osteopath , I said " a what"
It has helped , he was a very restless dude , compared to are other boy who was a dream in comparison
Having read a previous poster suggesting the same , I'd look into it . . .
Our boy wouldn't sleep for more than 20 - 30 minutes , as soon as he is put into moses basket he would wake up
He is getting there , likes nuzzling he's Mum's fun bags , but so do I . . . .

Old fashioned Gripe water and plenty of patience, its not fucking rocket science.
Colic and wind have been going on forever, if you have kids, man the fuck up and get on with it like most of the rest of us have done.
Cunts.
